shepherd tracks background processes spawned by Claude Code's Bash tool and reclaims them when sessions end, using shell-snapshot signatures to distinguish Claude-spawned commands from user processes and providing surgical kill, orphan detection, and stash/restore capabilities. The plugin hooks into session lifecycle and tool execution to automatically clean orphaned processes on launch, warn about port conflicts, and alert when tracked processes exceed RAM thresholds.
